Here is the makeup look I would like for my eyes (not so much for the lips – I’m pretty sure I showed up in that heavy of a lip, Beej would run). I stupidly left the image at home when I went for my trial. Hopefully she will agree to another trial, maybe closer to the wedding.

I had my makeup trial on Saturday. It went really well… I absolutely adored the makeup artist – Wendy. She is such a sweetheart, very knowledgable and talkative. AND she did a great job! The look was a little too natural for me. Which was my fault because I asked for natural thinking that was what I wanted. However, apparently I want a little more drama – especially with the eyes.

I’m going to book her, in fact I just mailed in the contract with the deposit. I just have to email her about changing my mind about the look I want. I’ll email her some inspirational photos. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos of me!

This is a good one of how even and a little sun-kissed she made my skin.
The eyes, however, are a little too natural – not enough “pop.”

Ch Ch Ch Changes…

So the big problem with planning a wedding for so. long.is that I keep changing my mind about things. For example, color scheme. I’m keeping turquoise and chartreuse but I’ve added black. In fact I’m going to have the bridesmaids wear black dresses. I think it’s such a classic look. And the green in their bouquets are going POP!

I went shopping for dresses with my MOH last weekend. I think we may have found “the one”… it’s simple, beautiful with a little bit fun on the bottom… you’ll see!! Now I just have to get my girls’ measurements and get them to order the dresses. I think I’m going to have them order through the same lady I ordered my wedding dress from since she can get such good deals! Another thing to add to my to do list: get a quote from Karen.

So tell me, do you think black is okay? I’ve pretty much made up my mind already but I’d love to hear what you think!

Less than 9 months…

A lot has happened since last post:

I’ve picked a florist and put deposit down. Adina – love her! Her work is absolutely gorgeous!

We’ve taken engagement photos. Here’s one of my favorites:

I’ve finalized and sent save-the-dates which means I’ve pretty much finalized the guest list.

I think we’ve narrowed down the rehearsal dinner locations to pretty much just the Prado. It’s absolutely beautiful and the food is delicious! Now I need to schedule a time for MIL and I to visit and meet with the event coordinator.

I think I will schedule a walk through at the Abbey for when my parents are in town for Christmas. Hopefully some of my bridesmaids can make it too as well as my future in-laws (of course!).

R and I went shopping to see what kind of styles I like as far as jewelry is concerned. I also showed her my dress. She was inspired and ready to design! I’m so excited to see what she comes up with. That girl has such an amazing eye and is so creative!

I haven’t talked to a hair stylist yet but I’m not too worried about it – yet! I know Robert’s will do an amazing job. I think what we (ladies) are going to do the morning of is go down “the hill” to Robert’s, get our hair done at the same time by different stylists at the salon (that way it doesn’t take too long) and then head back up for makeup, champagne and some food. As of right now, my aunt has graciously offered her house for us to get ready in.

That brings me to makeup… I have a trial on Saturday (October 16) with Wendy. I’ve heard great things about Wendy so I’m excited! Plus, who doesn’t love getting their makeup done professionally – I better figure out something fun to do Saturday night with my honey! I will post pictures after the trial!

One year from today I will be marrying my sweetheart. I am so excited! We’ve been engaged for about eight months now – and it flew by! I can’t believe that the wedding is a year away. Here’s my To Do list for this month:

Pick florist, put deposit down
Take engagement photos
Finalize save-the-dates with photo
Finalize guest list with both sets of parentals
Decide on rehearsal dinner location
Schedule a walk through at the Abbey with MIL (and maybe some bridesmaids!)
Try on dress for R
Start thinking about jewelry with R
Talk to hair stylist from Robert’s
Research makeup artist

Not really… there’s just not anything too fascinating to talk about right now. I dropped the dress off at my aunt’s to be taken care of for the next year or so. I love that it doesn’t look like it’s going to need much pressing after my fittings. The kind of fabric seems to hold up well in travel.

Now I am off to LAS VEGAS with my beautiful maid of honor for some relaxation, lots of sun and even more fun!! My next big wedding appointment is on July 5 with Adina (a florist). I will be sure to let you know how that goes.

Also, FI and I are moving sometime over the next week or so – so that’s going to be fun (note: sarcasm). I’m excited though. It’s a bigger place but in the same building.

In the meantime…

Today’s topic: jewelry!

Since I have my dress (yay!), I’ve been thinking a lot about accessories. My very dear friend, R is going to help me in this department and I promised to show her some inspiration pictures. I know I want sparkly (since there is some beading on my dress). I’m just not sure if I want the big earrings, small(ish) necklace with the headband. Or if the big earrings and headband is going to be too much?

I met with another florist and our photographer on Saturday. The florist was really nice, very knowledgeable but a bit pushy and out of my budget. We will see… she had some great ideas and tips – which I definitely will be borrowing

The photographer was wonderful. Her name is Stephanie and she is immensely talented. Her work is beautiful and I’m very excited to be working with her. She’s been doing this for years which is going to come in handy on the day of!

We have our videographer booked as well. One of groomsmen’s brothers is going to film the wedding for us. We’re really excited to hire him and also have him at the wedding.

So the deposit is down on the photographer. And I have one more interview with a florist (Adina – who seems extremely nice on the phone!). Then I’ll book the florist.

There’s still lots more to do but at least by July 11, 2008, I’ll have the big vendors booked and ready!

My dress is here already! I’m so excited. I get to pick it up today. I don’t know why but having my dress arrive already just makes everything so real. I’ll have to take some pictures and send them out. I know my dad is really excited to see the best Valentine’s Day present he ever bought me!

Update: I love it! It’s prettier than I remembered. And it fits really well, perfect length! I’m so excited!

hair today

I’ve been researching hairstyles I like recently and thought I’d share. My hair is pretty short right now but I’m hoping it will grown. Plus I think I might buy some real hair extensions. My co-worker who got married last year used some and her hair was gorgeous.

I would like my hair half up and curled. I think I am going to wear a headband (a fancy, sparkly one of course!). Here are a few headbands I’ve seen and liked.

(I like the way her hair is styled with the headband)

(I love the look of the lace with the beading but I wouldn’t
wear it so far front on my head. Also, I’d like silver more than gold)

(Again, I’m going wear my hair half up and half down
but I love the look of the pearls against her dark hair.)
